I would like to know what other Axis players do with Italy. In the game where I am the Axis, Italy is about ready to loose Libya. The British have just concentrated their army in knocking the Axis our of North Africa. I have in Italy a good Navy and now am concentrating on here Air Force. I am not sure what to do with this Major Power.

Try to control the Med with your navy. Build lots of sub III, naval bombers, and naval patrol. Germany should give you tanks and fighters to defend North Africa and even to take Egypt.

I thought I could transfer by using Cargo ships and it is almost too late, except Troop Transports are on the way. Can you just transfer troops using the transfer button thru the Med to Tunsia?

Question is really, is Italy indeed a Major Power?

I like to think of them as a big minor country. They can help out their closest major (Germany), and play a role in diplomacy, but, cannot really stand alone against a threat.

To top it off, they have supply problems in the early game, so they need a way to quickly gain some place that can produce supplies. I guess the easiest way to do this is to build a supply complex.

If history can be applied to the game, then an Africa Corps is probably a good idea, and a heavy investment in German air in the region, to help bomb, and keep enemy fighters at bay.

To get that Africa Corps to Libya, you need to, as Italy, give a few cargo ships to Germany and then transfer them. Hopefully at a time when the allies are not in a position to interdict that convoy. There are two other options to get them there. You can fly them in, with Transport planes or troop transports. All have their drawbacks and advantages.

You can transfer supply and forces from HQ to HQ across the sea. The sending HQ must have cargo ships actually in the HQ. Before you send troops, you need to make sure there are no enemy forces interdicting your supply route. To do this simply transfer 10 supply and see if you lose any to interdiction. Next transfer 100 supply. If you still do not lose any supply you should be good to go for any forces that you want to send.

I neglect them and need to fix this… I do like to get them a supply depot though early… And Rifle II.

So far through Diplomatic Italy has allied with Yugoslavia and Bulgaria. I am currently working on Greece. I am trying to figure out what to do with all the troops from both minor countries Italy has gotten thru diplomatic means. Any long term strategies for Italy. I thought Italy sole purpose is to keep Libya and threaten the Med.

I have a question. There is a large French Fleet off the coast of Palermo along with large French sub fleet. I cannot get anything to Tunis to reinforce Tunisia. I am currently building Italian torpedo planes and I have several groups of German Stukas in Italy and Sicily. How do I get rid of this French Fleet. Mainland France is conquered and he is getting his supplies from somewhere. The Italian Navy is being rebuilt after the Royal Navy gave a hurt to it. I tried bombing the French with Light Bombers but that does not work. The British are ready to strike at Tunisia with ground troops and I may not last in Africa all because of the French.

What is the size of the French fleet? How much of a fleet do you have?
Assuming that the French fleet has a large number of destroyers along with some capital ships you need sub III’s and torpedo planes/dive bombers(Germany should be able to give you some). I would suggest a minimum of 20 torpedo planes/dive bombers and about 60 sub III’s. Too few bombers will lead to heavy losses in planes and not much damage to the fleet(anti air). If the fleet is all alone, surround it with sub forces. Attack first with air and then with all the subs. If that is not enough to sink the French fleet follow up with an attack by your entire surface navy.

Even if you do not destroy the French fleet, you will reduce its ability to interdict. After the attack you should be able to transport supply manually to your HQ’s in North Africa. Try to keep 2 months supply in each HQ to allow for periods when supply is interdicted
